Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe
As I framed and mounted the replica of the Van Gogh inspired “Exploding Tardis” in my office this afternoon that my daughter painted for me, it seemed only fitting that I write a post about the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special – The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe. It seemed to me to be one of those fixed points of perfection in time that always bring with them those beautiful “ah-ha!” moments.
As a devoted Whovian I am beyond excited to see this years special. The latest trailer from BBC America shows the Doctor in England during World War II in 1941. The story centers around Madge Arwell who, despite learning that her husband was lost over the English Channel, is determined to make this Christmas the best she possibly can for her two children – Lily and Cyril. Of course, the Doctor is there to help make that wish a reality. This C.S. Lewis inspired episode will be just what the Doctor ordered until new episodes return next year! (See what we did there?!? We’re clever . . . we can see River’s facial expression too and yes . . . we are hot when we’re clever!)
Be sure to watch the Trailer in the Featured section to the right and mark your calendars! Santa isn’t the only thing arriving this Christmas that us kiddo’s have to look forward to.

OMG!!! I am absolutely in love with this post. Doctor Who is one of my most favorite shows EVER!!!!! I think Docotor Who is amazing!!!!! Yes… Van Gogh was one of my favorite episodes ever! I love his art…. I love his artistic vision.
Thank you so much!
I agree, Van Gogh is one of my favorites too as you can tell from the painting. I love the show for the brilliant storytelling, the actors and the way they portray the characters and most importantly – the bonding time it gives me with my daughter who was the one who turned me on to the show.
